Unique Marine Rescue Phootshoot

On Sunday 24th June 2007, Team members attended one of the largest gatherings of Coastal Rescue Emergency Services ever put together. All the units joined a group photograph to demonstrate the unity and team work between the different emergency services and also to show members of the public what resources are at hand should you require rescuing. The Units involved in the photograph were as follows:

The first image shows all the emergency services gathered together and is then followed by a selection of photographs of Brigade members preparing, participating and then relaxing after the photo shoot. (Apart from the first image, all photos are courtesy of and used with the permission of, Tynemouth 8).

From left to right - North Tyneside Council Lifeguards with North Sea Volunteer Lifeguards, Tynemouth RNLI All-Weather Lifeboat, Cullercoats RNLI Inshore Lifeboat, Tynemouth RNLI Inshore Lifeboat, Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade Vehicle, Northumbria Police Boat, North East Ambulance Service Vehicle and Ambulance Technician/Brigade Blue Section Leader Richard, in front of Brigade Members Dan and Harvey (down the cliff) who are in front of helicopter and crew of Sea King 131 from R.A.F. Boulmer, Blyth Coastguard Team and vehicle, Fire Brigade Tender and Crew, North Tyneside Council rescue boat in front of Police Vehicle and then other members of Cullercoats RNLI Inshore Lifeboat and their Tractor behind two Red Seal Rescue Craft and two North Tyneside Council Lifeguard Personal Water Craft with Brigade Members on the Far Right!

Brigade members prepare for the photo shoot as other units arrive in the background
John, Paul and Alan bask in the Summer Sunshine
More Units arrive with Blyth Coastguard Team members pictured on the ramp
Two Cullercoats Lifeboatmen emerge from the sea
Tynemouth Lifeboat are the last of the units to arrive - (needing the tide level to be just right so they could fit in without scraping their bottom and not because they wanted to be fashionably late!)
Brigade members Dan and Harvey take position down the Cliff
Tynemouth Lifeboat were last to arrive and first to leave once the main picture had been taken
They are chased out by Cullercoats Inshore Lifeboat and the Police Boat
Meanwhile Red Seal Rescue and Council Watercraft are less hasty to leave
Dan and Harvey tidy up their cliff lines after the photo shoot finished
Rescue 131 sat on the boatfield looking relaxed
But the peace is soon interrupted by the Blues Brothers (a.k.a. Norman and Paul!)
Newly married Captain Michael remembers how to smile for the camera
Gordon in front of 131
Captain Dave's turn to smile
And now Alan takes position next to the Helicopter
A different Michael now next to the 'Copter
After taking all the photos, Dave finally gets his turn next to the helicopter
Before the helicopter left there was time for John and Peter to have one last shot together
Before returning to normality a policeman (tall) and Big John have a quick rest (on long-standing Brigade member Brian!)
